Lavrans Svendsen reveals the secrets behind "The Voice" outfits.

- Wow! Yes - exclaims "The Voice" finalist Lavrans Svendsen (22).

The singer stands in the living room of jewelery designer Ole Sand, while designer Mariette Røed Torjussen stands by with a roll of glittering balls.

Now the final touches are being put on the work, before he goes on stage during the big "The Voice" final on Friday.

- But I think we put on a little more in the middle here, says The Voice finalist and points to the chest.

The artist has known the fear of not getting his outfit approved for TV use.

- The first time I came to the "blind audition" I was told that I had to go to the back and talk to the people there who decided. So we took a long, long walk and said, "Is this acceptable?",  reveals Lavrans.

- Luckily it all went well!

The artists must be allowed to be themselves

The outfit, which he had made himself from live flowers and greenery the night before, was a tribute to the christening gift his grandmother painted for him:

- We were a bit unsure beforehand whether this could be too challenging in a family programme, but it is important to us that the artists should be allowed to be themselves, and this was very Lavrans.

Easy to fall in love with you

That something "is very Lavrans" is an expression of the signature he has created throughout "The Voice" season; the eccentric outfits and heartfelt performances that the 22-year-old singer from Fredrikstad has offered.

- He has undressed and shown himself. You give yourself away. It's an easy way to like you, and for others to be able to see that there is something special here - says Mariette Røed Torjussen to Lavrans as she sews the last stitch of the final outfit.

Lavrans thanks humbly, from the bottom of his heart and often, as if all the words of praise he has collected this spring haven't fully settled in yet - each compliment is like the first.

- I didn't think I would have to make a package, because I didn't know how far it would go, I didn't know the way. It has only been there and then, says Lavrans.

Got strict security requirements

Although the stage performances have fascinated mentors and the public, the singer can tell that it has not always been completely smooth.

- It is probably more demanding behind the scenes than you see. There are many ideas and many things that do not come to life.

Just before the semi-final, the news came that Lavrans had fallen ill with strep throat and a fever. It ensured that he had to scrap an outfit he had big plans for.

- Then I had started a "tear away" moment, I had made two garments that I was going to tear off for "I don't wanna be". Then I got sick, it wasn't finished and then I didn't want to go out on stage with something I felt was "half-ass". I feel that would be wrong.

The pyro flames that rose from his grand piano when he performed "Another love" were another challenge. It was out of the question to take any kind of risk for the production and they gave a number of clear safety requirements to the singer.

- There were a lot of things like that. I was wearing a veil, it had to come off long before the flames came on, and I was given a rule that I had to sit far away. They also had to check thoroughly whether the flames could go the wrong way. They are very safety-conscious, says Lavrans.

- Does it affect you?

- It's a bit extra demanding, but it was actually a bit nice, it made me even more present. I was more connected, I didn't think: "Shit, now it's hot", he smiles.

Loading up, laying down

He has used the last week to recharge in his own way, going for a walk in the forest, relaxing at home, lying flat on the lawn in the garden and "grounding" himself, as he says.

To deal with design, stage show and singing seem to be a bit much for a beginner, in something that after all is a competition for relatively fresh singing talents.

Lavrans laughs heartily when we ask if he too, who seems so confident on stage, fears that he might screw it up.

- Yes, yes, yes, many times. It is typical that something or other happens, but it has usually gone very well when we first film, says Lavrans and knocks on the table.

- I would like to film those times before I get on stage, then... It happens several times that I "fuck up" or that something goes wrong, he admits.

- But you go through it a few times before you have to perform, then it gets a bit in your body. then if something happens when I go on stage, I am screwed - concludes the finalist.

- But before the performance you repeat what you are going to do and it sits in your body. Then when you walk up on stage and something happens, you get turned on - concludes the finalist.
