"The Voice" Lavrans hid the dream from the family

- Never felt good enough

Doubt and uncertainty threatened to suffocate the music that burned in his heart. But Lilli Bendriss predicted the TV success!

The level has been sky-high in this year's round of the talent program "The Voice". One who immediately won the hearts of the mentors - and the viewers - was the Fredrikstad man Lavrans Svendsen (22).

Before the final, he is full of energy and wonderful excitement.

- I have never felt as good as I do now. To have a place in the final is huge! Being part of "The Voice" and everything that has happened around it means an extremely great deal to me, the singer tells Se og Hør.

BETTING ON MUSIC: Only in recent years has Lavrans Svendsen decided to invest in music, and therefore signed up for "The Voice". Before that, he was very self-critical, and kept the song to himself. Photo: TV 2

Svendsen's mentor in the program is Jarle Bernhoft (47), but the others have also praised him to the skies. Ina Wroldsen (40) believes that in the future he can fill the famous concert arena Madison Square Garden in New York!

The talent and energy he now displays in prime time was previously not so easy to see for the TV profile.

- I have mostly sung at home alone, and have probably hidden it a bit from the family. I have been self-critical, and never felt good enough, Lavrans admits.

A performance at a restaurant in his hometown last year did something with Lavrans' confidence, giving him the belief that he belongs on a stage.

- I was only supposed to take one song to challenge myself, but those sitting there were so excited and wanted more. Several thought that I should sign up for "The Voice". It was such a strong reaction that I thought I should now move on to something more.

Got help from Bendriss

His inner strength and yearning were there all along. But what really got him to release the song was actually one of Norway's best-known mediums – Lilli Bendriss (78). It was during a live recording of a podcast in Oslo that Lavrans plucked up the courage and went over to say hello to the well-known "Power of the Spirits" profile. It would prove to be a strong meeting for both of them.

- Lilli contributed to my spiritual awakening, and it gave me the desire and understanding to want to do music, he says eagerly.

Bendriss has told TV 2 that she too experienced the meeting with Svendsen as very special.

- I only saw a white light around him, and the first thing I saw were his eyes. I had no idea who he was, but thought "This boy is going to be something big in the world", says Bendriss.

Prediction came true

Lavrans tells Se og Hør that Lilli immediately saw that he was an "entertainer" and that he belonged on stage.

- At the time, I didn't feel the inner strength she thought I had, but everything she told me is about to happen now, Svendsen states.

HUGE RESPONSE: Messages pour in daily from people who have been moved by Lavran's performances. - It's incredibly nice, but I don't have the capacity to answer them all, says the artist. Photo: TV 2

Close bond. After the first meeting, the two have kept in touch, and developed a very special bond.

- She has so much love in her. She has become a safe and close person in my life. In a way, she feels like a grandmother to me. Before I was very stressed, but she helped me find my calm. A beautiful experience, says "The Voice" profile.

A NEAR MISS: Mentor Jarle Bernhoft has given the 22-year-old a lot of good advice. - He is a musical genius who really helps me, says Svendsen about Bernhoft - who turned around at the last minute during Svendsen's audition. Photo: TV 2

Now he wants to help others find the same peace of mind and security.

- I want to help and heal people with music, and spread love. Many people experience a lot of pain, but I want to inspire people to focus on the good. I simply want to spread more joy in the world. We need that, he concludes to Se og Hør.
