Lilli Bendriss (77) says she saw a white light around Lavrans Svendsen (22) the first time they met. Now, Norway’s most famous self-proclaimed medium is spreading her wings around “The Voice” favorite.

With his unique style and distinctive voice, Lavrans Svendsen (22) has captivated both the mentors and the audience on “The Voice.” 

Millions have seen his knockout performance on TikTok, and the young man from Fredrikstad is considered one of the favorites ahead of the first live broadcast of the TV 2 program on Friday. 

Lavrans Svendsen also receives unexpected support from none other than Norway’s most famous self-proclaimed medium, Lilli Bendriss (77). 

She says, "I have a kind of maternal protective feeling for Lavrans, that I want to be here for any questions he has. It’s almost like he’s my grandchild. I’m going to follow him. We’ve become very good friends, and of course, I’m cheering for him on ‘The Voice’".

Magical meeting

Svendsen and Bendriss met for the first time after she had recorded a live podcast in Oslo. The young man approached her to say “hello” on stage after the show.

- I saw a white light around him, and the first thing I noticed were his eyes. I didn’t know who he was, but I thought, “This boy is going to be something big in the world.” The light around him immediately prompted me to invite him as a guest on my podcast, “Uforklarlig,” - says Bendriss.

Svendsen accepted the invitation, and he was surprised that Lilli Bendriss herself expressed interest in him.

- The first time, I was starstruck because she is so famous. But now it feels very familiar, warm, loving, and safe. She later wrote to me that she believed we are spiritually connected. It resonated with me, says "The Voice" participant.

The 22-year-old had long felt that he would one day meet Bendriss.

- I have felt that she is going to say something important to me. At the same time, I have dismissed it as: "No, it's just something or other in my head". But then I realized it was my intuition. It was huge that it became a reality.

Believe in world fame

The young artist explains that the meeting with the 77-year-old was fateful.

- It is Lilli who made me have the spiritual awakening that I had, and it is that spirituality that made me want to start making music, he says.

Bendriss claims that "The Voice" participant has very special abilities, in addition to his excellent singing voice.

- I understood that he was very spiritual, because with such a light around you, you are very "connected". I also got the feeling that I had to look after him and follow him. Because he had just awakened to something greater, in the spiritual sense. I felt that he has a task to spread that light to the world, she says.

The 77-year-old does not spare the superlatives when she describes her new friend.

- Lavrans is a work of art, a miracle! He is the whole package and he never does anything that is not from the heart. He gets visions and does what he sees, and it fits so well with what I've seen in him. I think the world needs someone like Lavrans, she believes.

- I think he will become very, very famous. Not only in Norway, but also abroad, she adds.

The specially designed outfits Svendsen wears on stage, he claims to have received through such "visions". The spirituality also gives him the confidence to carry out the performances, he says.

- I wouldn't have been able to do it before, because then I would have been too afraid of what others thought. Now I know that everything has a meaning, that everything happens for a reason. Without the spiritual aspect, I would have had too many thoughts and fears, and thus refrained from doing it.

Overnight

Last weekend, Svendsen was invited by Bendriss and his sister Aase Sydness – known from the TV 2 program “Sofa” – to a course. 

- “I said I would book a hotel in connection with the course, since I live in Fredrikstad,” he says. 

The “clairvoyant” sisters, who are also neighbors in Røa, Oslo, decided that the 22-year-old could stay with them.

- “Then he stayed overnight at my place. We were a bit rushed in the morning, so I told my husband that he could do the dishes. Lavrans got up and started unloading the dishwasher,” says Sydness. 

- “I had to say, ‘No, stop!’ It was as if he belonged there and had always lived there. He’s a little angel.” 

Although Bendriss has great faith in her 55-year-younger friend, she won’t attempt to predict the outcome of his participation in ‘The Voice.’ 

- “I told him, ‘Lavrans, I don’t want to know if you’ll win or not. This is your journey, and you’ll walk it without any answers in advance. But what I can say is that regardless of this, you’re going to be great.’” 

- “It’s very clear to me because Lavrans is truly unique.”
